Dear Beverly Hills Community,

Having served on the Beverly Hills School Board from 2009 to 2018 and twice as its President, I understand the responsibility that comes with leading our schools. I am proud to endorse Judy Manouchehri for re-election.

Our community deserves an honest picture of our schools—one that recognizes where we need to improve and where our students are making meaningful gains.

Under Judy’s leadership, the board has made consequential decisions about district leadership and academic priorities. The latest results shared by Judy show encouraging progress: two consecutive years of improvement in BHHS English and math.

Older Rankings Leave Out Recent Progress

The opposition continues to cite U.S. News & World Report rankings to suggest our schools are declining today. But as Judy explains in her recent post, those rankings rely primarily on 2023–24 school-year data and do not yet reflect the subsequent gains shown above.

Rankings deserve scrutiny. They compare schools across several measures, however, and cannot provide a complete picture of what is happening in our classrooms now. Presenting older rankings without the latest academic results leaves families with an incomplete account.

Accountability means acknowledging the work still ahead—and giving our students and teachers credit for the progress they have earned.

These results are encouraging signs that the changes underway are having a positive effect. They reflect the dedication of students, teachers, families and school leaders working together to move our schools forward.

Judy deserves a fair assessment of her leadership. Our community deserves the full picture. And our children deserve continued focus on their success.

I believe Judy is the right leader to continue this work, and I encourage you to join me in supporting her re-election.
